What to Expect During Your Vein Treatment

The Experience:

You are the patient. At Alaska Vein Care, You and your journey to optimum health are our priority. From the moment you call, we strive to fully educate you and assist you through every step of that journey.

First, if you know that you are suffering with some ailment with your legs or veins but aren't sure what exactly, or you simply want to learn more about your case and what we can do for you, we happily schedule a free screening where our physicians will take the time to analyze and then educate you on your legs, your veins, and your symptoms, and just as importantly, what you can do to find relief and health.

First Steps & Guidance

If, during or after your free screening, you decide that you definitely want treatment and the doctor feels confident you are a candidate for successful treatment, we move forward with a full initial consult and vein mapping with our ultrasound. 

If you know you and your body need to move forward with the consultation, ultrasound, and ultimately, treatment, but are hesitating due to financial barriers, our excellent, caring financial counselor can walk you through the many options available to help take away the financial barriers so you can move forward and find the relief that you and your body deserve.

During your initial consultation, your vein specialist will educate you on the latest technology and treatments that our doctors specialize in and they will also guide you through what to expect during and after the treatment. Although the procedure to cure your varicose veins are done in office and you can even drive yourself home, some patients have anxiety about the procedure itself. If you are concerned and feel overly anxious, your vein specialist can also discuss the option of having a one time dose of anti-anxiety medicine for you during your procedure. 

The Procedure:

  • After your arrival and check-in, you will be guided by our caring medical team to our comfortable treatment beds where you will be given a warm blanket as you get ready to have your legs made healthy again!
  • Your Vein Specialist will come in and greet you, make sure you have all your questions answered and that you feel comfortable.
  •  You'll relax and watch your favorite show or movie on our network as your specialist begins the treatment.
  • Typically, the procedure will last 60-90 minutes and involves very little discomfort.
  • After the procedure, your vein doctor will update you on all the progress made and will make sure you are fully educated on your post-procedure wellness plan.
  • Once you feel comfortable and confident, we will help you find your way to the front door and make sure you have your follow up appointment cards and we will be excited to see you soon, well on your way to full recovery!

Follow Up:

Your specialist will personally follow up with you no later than 2 days following your procedure. You will have a follow up appointment during the first week, and then a final follow up visit a month after the procedure.
